Polyethylene (PE) is the most used plastic in the world. It is produced by the polymerization of the ethylene monomer. Polyethylenes are classified into High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low density polyethylene (LDPE) and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE). HDPE is characterised by comparatively low amount of long chain branching and has the strongest strength to weight ratios amongst the three PE's.
